There are many Merent ways for a pager to determine and let the user know when the pager is not receiving pages due to "OUT OF RANGE' the most common method being to display an icon which symbolizes "OUT OF RANGE: Knowing that the pager is "OUT OF RANGE" might not be enough in all cases. There may be times when the user needs to know how long the pager has been "OUT OF RANGE"; this will allow the user to take corrective action by checking with possible paging sources or by retrieving a history of pages transmitted to the user by the Radio Common Carrier (RCC). DESCRIPTION When the pager is &ecu&g code in the "MAIN LOOP:' refer to figure 1, the pager will determine ifit is "OUT of RANGE"; if so the pager will update the "OUT of RANGE" elapse time counter. At any point in the "CONTINUE PROCESSING" block the user may request the pager to display the "OUT of RANGE" elapse time counter data. If the pager is no longer "OUT of RANGE" and the "OUT of RANGE" elapse time counter data has been displayed then the next time the pager goes "OUT of RANGE" will cause the "OUT of RANGE" elapse time counter to reset and start counting up from zern again.
