Automatic Battery Discharge using Real Time Clock

      Disclosed is a method to automatically discharge and charge
batteries in order to avoid the battery memory effect.  By using a
resident real time clock hardware, battery discharge and charge can
be done in a particular time in order to prevent charge abortion by
disconnecting an AC power supply for hand-carry.  By this method any
user need not be conscious about battery discharge and can use the
battery as a memory-effectless battery.

      This discharge method is applied to all battery-driven products
with real time clock hardware.  Even if the system has a suspend mode
or a sleep mode to reduce its power consumption and stays in the mode
at a discharge start time, the system will resume and start
discharging and charging.

      During discharging, entering the suspend mode or sleep mode is
disabled in order to prompt battery discharge.  During charging after
discharging, the system monitors an AC power supply for the charging
battery.  If the AC power supply is terminated because of power cord
disconnection or other reasons, the system makes beeps or signals to
let users know the charge source is terminated.

      For user convenience, a user programmable time is not a
discharge start time but a charge completion time.  The system
determines a discharge start time internally considering the system
battery discharge load and full-charge time.
