Intelligent Power Management for Mobile Phones
Nowadays mobile phones are equipped with a variety of features and offer different functionalities. The actual usage of these features depends on the individual. Typically a modern phone provides functionalities such as telephony service, texting , photography, internet facility, personal office software facility etc. Priority of availability of a particular functionality or service on a mobile phone varies from user to user and also varies from time to time for a given user. Moreover, there are different power requirements for availability or usage of different functionalities within a mobile phone. Since power of a portable device is always limited, running out of power is a common problem encountered and is ubiquitous. Hence there is a need
i) To smartly detect the battery power left and associate the remaining battery power with the mobile's facility operations, as per end user discretion.
ii) For an improved system that allows mobile user to determine and prioritize which mobile application or functionality should be allowed to work when the battery power hits below a threshold value.
iii) For a system that allows user to set the above threshold value indicating low battery power in mobile phones. A system that intimates calling party of the available source of communication over the mobile during low power condition, if the user desires. A system that allows user to set different priority list as per date, time and his/her calendar which aids user to override the power settings in case of exception, as defined by the user.
Disclosed in this article is a method within mobile phones that helps users to avail maximum, important and required facilities during low power conditions by
i.) Allowing user to set which mobile applications need to be disabled at what threshold value ( where threshold value determines the power remaining in the mobile battery).
ii). Allowing user to enable service to let the calling party know that the particular service is not available due to low battery condition and provide alternative available service available for that phone during that state
iii.) Allowing users to set the priority of application availability during low power condition depending upon date and time....
